This year, our school Spelling Bee will include grades 5-8. The winners of our school Spelling Bee will move on to our County Spelling Bee.
There will be a non-school Spelling Bee opportunity for students in grades 1-4. Classroom teachers will send out the information via rooms. Again, grades 1-4 will not be in the school, but there will be an opportunity for students who want to spell.

Today, our 3rd and 4th graders participated in Ag in the Classroom at the Jamestown Civic Center. We also had some FFA students presenting at 2 of the booths. Lots of learning for all!

Throughout the fall, there were several career & college related events that took place including a Military Fair (grades 7-12), Military classroom visits (grades PK-6), VCSU & NDSU College Tours (grades 10-11) and a Health Tech & Trades Fair (grades 9-10). These are all great opportunities for our students to learn about & explore their career interests.

In early December, we had 4 students attend the Student Council Conference in Bismarck. It was a great opportunity for our student council members to network with other student leaders across the state, vote for and help elect the next State Student Council Officers and hear some amazing speakers. In addition, 2 of our Medina students played the National Anthem on the 2nd day of conference! It was a fun and educational leadership experience!

Our 3rd graders, as part of their Kelso's Star curriculum, which focuses on character, completed a service learning project just before we went on break. The class chose to make tie blankets for pets in foster homes. With the help of the 10th grade class, and a few other high school/middle school students, they made a total of 22 blankets! I was able to deliver them to Prairie Paws Rescue over break and received some photos back. Our 3rd graders loved seeing dogs and cats snuggled up in the blankets they made! Through this project, our 3rd graders put caring and fairness into action. They practiced being responsible for doing their part and had to use their Kelso's Choices to resolve conflicts as they worked together in teams. They did a pretty amazing job!
