Summer EBT Program
In summer 2024, North Dakota will launch Summer EBT, a new grocery benefits program that provides families $120 for each eligible school-aged child to buy groceries when school is out. Summer is a time when many children lose the free and reduced-price meals they get at school, and when households might need a little extra help putting meals on the table. Most families will get these benefits automatically, but some parents will need to apply. The new program is in addition to free meals that kids of all ages can get at summer meal sites in their communities.
Most parents or guardians of eligible students will receive an email that provides information about the student's eligibility, how to update address information or how to opt out of the program if they choose. We were not able to get email addresses for every eligible student. Parents or guardians may contact our office if they don’t get an email and want to know if they will receive benefits and/or update their address information. We have a special Summer EBT email address: NDSEBT@nd.gov and the webpage is NDSummerEBT.nd.gov
Eligibility:
Children are eligible for the program if:
• the child attends a school that offers the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Program, and
a. the household receives SNAP, FDPIR, or TANF benefits, or
b. the household income meets the requirements for free or reduced-price school meals.
Many families will get Summer EBT automatically, but some families may need to apply.
• If your children don’t meet the eligibility criteria listed above, but you think your household is eligible for Summer EBT, you can apply for Summer EBT by filling out a simple application. The application will be available online at https://ndsummerebt.nd.gov/ on April 24, 2024.
How Summer EBT Works:
The benefits will be provided on a separate EBT card for each eligible student and can be used to buy groceries. Families will receive $120 per eligible child for the summer. Benefits can be used at authorized retailers, like grocery stores and farmers markets, to purchase healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, meats and other protein sources, whole grains, and dairy.

The baseball game on Thursday, May 2 will be vs. Kidder County JH and will begin at 4:00 PM. Only one 7-inning game will be played on this night.

Can you please fill out our parent survey? We use these results for our school improvement process and value your input and feedback. We hope at least one parent fills out a survey and it can represent your family. No need to do more than one survey. If you have questions, please call Mrs. Hofmann at the school.
The JH track meet scheduled for today in Jamestown has been cancelled. The track team will practice in Medina today after school.
Sophomores and Juniors will be on a College Tour Field Trip this Wednesday, May 1st. Bus will leave the school at 8:30am and return by 3:20. We will tour the University of Jamestown and Valley City State University. Students should plan to bring $10 cash for lunch as we will have the opportunity to eat in the VCSU cafeteria which will give them the experience of eating in a college cafeteria setting. If you prefer to bring your own lunch, that is fine as well. If anyone is unable to provide the $10 or a sack lunch, please call me at the school as we want to ensure no students go without lunch.
Due to weather and poor field conditions, today’s baseball game has been cancelled. The baseball team will have a split practice today in lieu of the game.
As summer quickly approaches, it is always a good idea to assess whether your kids are ready to be left home alone, even for short periods of time. You can find some helpful information on the attached flier.
Due to illness, the Medina High School class play has been postponed to next Friday, May 3, at 8:00 PM.
On Wednesday, May 1st spring class photos will be taken in the morning. This will be done for PreK through 9th grade classes. Order forms for a 5x7 photo will be passed out to students next week.
For the Juniors and Sophomores, the class photos will be taken on Friday, May 3rd in the morning. This is due to these classes being on college visits that day. Order forms for a 5x7 photo will be passed out to these grades next week, as well.

The baseball game scheduled for Thursday, April 25 in Jamestown will now be played in Medina. We are unable to use Jack Brown Stadium in Jamestown due to a scheduling conflict with the UJ Baseball team. Start time is still 4:30.

Sports Physicals—May 3rd at Medina School
All students participating in sports for the 2024-2025 school year must have a valid sports physical. Trisha Fennern, Nurse Practitioner from Minot Health Clinic will be conducting sports physicals on Friday, May 3rd at Medina School from 10:30 AM until 3:30 PM. These physicals are valid for the 2024-2025 school year. Please contact Teresa at Medina School by May 2nd to set up an appointment. The cost of the physicals is $50. Physical forms are available at the school or they may be accessed on the NDHSAA website. Please bring these completed forms with you the day of your physical. Physicals will not be completed unless parental forms are signed, and payment is made. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment to complete your paperwork. Payment can be made by cash, credit card, or check. If you have any questions, please call the school.
